Analysis of epidemiological factors of drug-addicted pregnant women in the general hospital of the workingclass neighborhood in 2022
Abstract
Introduction: Substance
consumption during pregnancy has been related to negative consequences for the
health of the maternal-fetal binomial, due to the fact that most psychoactive
substances cross the placenta by passive diffusion, thus being able to exert
their toxicity on the fetus; Putting the lives of the mother and her child at
risk.
Objective: Determine the
prevalence of pregnant women with drug addiction at the Barrio Obrero General
Hospital and analyze the epidemiological factors of drug-addicted pregnant
women.
Methodology:
Retrospective, descriptive, cross-sectional study; Where the focused population
was the drug-addicted pregnant women who attended the Hospital General De
Barrio Obrero between January and December 2022. Google drive of the
questionnaire type was used to collect data and the data analysis was carried
out in percentages, mean and median, in addition to the preparation of graphs
in the Microsoft Office-Excel 2016® program.
Results: The prevalence of
pregnant women who presented a positive toxicological examination was 7%, where
the average age was 24 years. 54% do not work and all had single marital
status. Regarding the toxicological examination, 32.5% used cocaine, 28% used
marijuana and 14.5% used crack.
Conclusion: Information on
the prevalence of drug use during pregnancy is limited in the literature;
Making this clarification, the prevalence and consumption of cocaine and
marijuana is high (7%, 32.5% and 28% respectively)
