Biography

José de Jesús Curiel-Valdés graduated from UNAM in 1970 with specialty in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Two national awards for work on p16 immunohistochemistry (Utility of p16 in cervical biopsies), granted by the Mexican Academy of Surgery and the Mexican College of Gynecology and Obstetrics in 2007. Published books: 1. Human Papillomavirus: A Version for Everyone, 2007, 2nd ed. 2017; 2. Cervicovaginal Cytological Study: Papanicolaou, How to Obtain a Correct Sample, Nieto Editores, 2013; 3. Illustrated Gynecological and Obstetric Pathology, Nieto Editores, 2014. President of the Mexican Association of Pathologists, 1993-1995. Member of the Mexican Academy of Surgery, 2004-present. Editorial board: Surgery and Surgeons, Latin American Journal of Pathology. More than 20 published papers on various pathology topics in local and international journals. Associate professor of colposcopy and cervical pathology. since1993 up to date.
