Introduction: Menstrual disorders specially heavy bleeding and irregular cycles are a significant gynaecological problem. Many therapeutic options are available but exhibit side effects and sometimes they are contraindicated. Nutraceuticals offers a benefit of restoration of hormonal homeostasis by correcting natural pathways. We conducted a study to explore the benefits of the same in different gynaecological conditions

Aim: To study the role of nutraceuticals in managing abnormal uterine bleeding.

Methodology: This was a prospective study done on 268 patients having AUB conducted over a period of August 2023 to December 2023.The participants were divided into two groups with first receiving prescribed dose of nutraceuticals powder and second group adopting only lifestyle modification. The clinical parameters studied were reduction in menstrual blood loss using PBAC score, restoration of cycle frequency pattern, reduction in pain score of dysmenorhhoea using VAS scale.

Results: At the end of third cycle, overall, 97 patients (82.8%) reported a subjective in reduction in menstrual blood loss in combined group. When the comparative assessment was done, reduction in blood loss was seen in 74% in group A and only 17% in Group B. In Group A 43% restoration of cycle frequency was seen and in group B it was 34%. Reduction in dysmenorrhoea was seen in 24% in group A and 17% in group B. An improvement of BMI was noted in 13% of the group A.

Conclusions: Nutraceuticals offer an excellent efficacy profile in management of AUB and the rates of side effects is also minimal. We recommend larger and blinded studies to further validate the efficacy.
