Presentation Title:

Efficacy of ayurvedic lifestyle interventions (ahara, dincharya, and ritucharya) in optimizing Female fertility outcomes: a clinical case study of 20 patients

Abstract

Background: Modern reproductive medicine increasingly recognizes the profound impact of lifestyle, stress, and metabolic health on female fertility. While assisted reproductive technologies offer solutions, there is a growing global demand for holistic, non-invasive interventions that enhance natural fecundity. This study evaluates the clinical efficacy of classical Ayurvedic lifestyle protocols—specifically focusing on Ahara (dietary regimen), Dincharya (daily routines), and Ritucharya (seasonal regimens)—in improving reproductive health and optimizing fertility outcomes.

Methods: A clinical case study was conducted on 20 female patients aged 23–38 years with documented histories of primary or secondary infertility, ovulatory dysfunction, or unexplained subfertility. The intervention spanned over a period of 3 to 6 months. Patients were prescribed a personalized Ayurvedic regimen comprising optimal Ahara (nutrient-dense, Agni-enhancing whole foods), strict adherence to Dincharya (circadian-aligned sleep-wake cycles and moderate exercise), and Ritucharya (detoxification practices attuned to seasonal transitions). No primary conventional fertility drugs were administered during the study period.

Results: Following the intervention, significant improvements were observed in reproductive biomarkers and menstrual regularity. Out of the 20 patients, 14 (70%) achieved spontaneous, healthy conceptions within the study period. The remaining 6 patients demonstrated marked improvements in endometrial thickness, regularized ovulatory cycles, and reduced systemic markers of oxidative stress and metabolic dysfunction. No adverse effects were reported. The basic principles of Ayurveda, when systematically applied through structured lifestyle, dietary, and behavioral modifications, offer a potent, sustainable strategy to enhance female fertility options.
